why not? I saw Weir when he was doing his thing with just him and Wasserman and it was ok but nothing to get excited about. Then I heard some tapes ( yeah that's right cassettes ) of early Ratdog and they did nothing for me, boring imo. Then I started hearing good things. Then I had the pleasure of going to that Comes A Time shindig at the Greek and ratdogs short set was the highlight for me. Most might go for Trey and Warren jamming it u p on Help/Slip and Eyes ( which was good and all ) but hearing what Bob did with 1/2 step birdsong and especially Lazy River Road was the closest I've felt to the magic after Jerry.

I like what Phil does with the early Dead catalog ( Dark Star 11 New Potato ) but I sure as hell don't enjoy hearing him try and sing the Jerry stuff. I don't care for his band leader approach, haven't liked his " band" since Kimock left. But at least ratog comes off as a bonafide band not just a Weir vanity project.

Also, all of you have to realize how much you take for granted. Try living somewhere where you get MAYBE 2 or 3 shows worth seeing a year, and never anything Dead related.
